After the velvet revolution Robert visited first time a West European music shop in Vienna. The same year he met George Cierny who has traveled around Scandinavia for 20 years working as a professional musician. George saw immediately the quality of Robert's instruments and though there could be a bigger future for these instruments. As a result of their meeting Neuser company was founded in December 1989. In 1990 Annika Kalvia joined the company and the sale and marketing of Neuser Basses was moved to Finland

During the first two years the work shop was in a small garage and the annual production quantity was 10-20 basses. Since those days the company has moved in to a bigger atelier and today the production quantity has increased to 150 completely hand made instruments/ year.

During the past years the biggest fight has been, the fight against prejudice. People were suspicious against high quality hand made instruments from the former Czechoslovakia nowadays Slovakia. However the doubters did forget that among others the Dobro Bros. are originally from Czechoslovakia as well as builders of really good double basses and violins. There are really long traditions in high quality string instrument building in Slovakia.

Therefore we dare to say that Neuser Basses are the elegant result of years of experience in the "noble are of the luthiers". You can almost sense the tradition of east European luthiers by embracing a Neuser Bass. It's like the "energy of the hand", that, created the instrument, being transferred to the players along with an unusual feeling of comfortability, when holding a Neuser Bass.
